Regulatory expectations around AML/CFT compliance continue to increase, and regulators remain active – something we are seeing regularly both in the media and through supervisory engagement. Recent enforcement actions, including the ASB penalty, are one example among many that reinforce the importance of having appropriately skilled people overseeing AML/CFT frameworks.
For many reporting entities, this responsibility sits with the Compliance Officer, supported by senior managers who hold governance and oversight accountability. In some businesses, particularly smaller or adviser-led entities, these responsibilities may sit with one person. In all cases, the role requires practical knowledge and sound judgement to ensure customer due diligence is applied correctly, risk assessments inform monitoring, and issues are identified and escalated appropriately.

The course focuses on how AML/CFT obligations are applied in practice, helping build the knowledge and confidence needed to oversee AML/CFT programmes effectively.
The upcoming intake begins 4 March and is delivered via live virtual classroom. Sessions run on 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 March, and 1 and 2 April, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm via Zoom, within a structured 12-week programme.
