The Department of Internal Affairs, Financial Markets Authority, and Reserve Bank of New Zealand have released an updated version of the AML/CFT Audit Guideline, now available on the DIA website.
This revised guideline includes minor but important changes to help you better understand and meet your audit obligations under the AML/CFT Act.
Key updates include:
- Clarification of audit timeframes: audits must be completed every three years, unless your AML/CFT supervisor notifies you that a four-year timeframe applies or requests an audit sooner.
- Improved guidance on selecting an auditor, including what qualifies as independent and appropriately qualified.
These updates ensure the guideline remains accurate, clear, and aligned with current supervisory expectations.
